  • Community Dental Access Centre
    3107C-31st Avenue, Vernon

    The Community Dental Access Centre is now open.
    Community Dental Access website
    The dental care provided will be at a reduced fee. If individuals have PWD, Healthy Kids they will not be charged a balance until their benefit amount is used up. If a client comes in with an abscessed tooth, the clinic staff and volunteers will do their best to help them at a special evening clinic even if the individual has no coverage. This will not be same-day service. The individual will most likely need to see their doctor to see if antibiotics are needed.

  • BrainTrust Canada - a leader in brain injury rehabilitation and prevention has opened an office in Vernon. #120, 4412 - 27th St, Vernon. Phone 250.307.6064

  • Although the Vernon Women's Centre has closed, services are available at Vernon Women's Transition House, the Primary Health Clinic, Independent Living, the First Nations Friendship Centre, United Way and the Cammy Lafleur Street Clinic. For more information about community programs, call Transition House at 250 542-1122 or the Gateway Shelter at 250 260-2786.

  • Caregiving: A Shared Journey. This Ministry of Health website provides a range of resources that offer practical assistance as well as personal supports for caregivers and care recipients.

  • Caregiver Support Group (Interior Health). Run by health care professionals, offers education, individual and group support. All caregivers of adults with age-related conditions are welcome. Room 102 at the People Place, the second Wednesday of each month, from 1 pm to 2:30 pm. Contact Colleen at 250 549-5737.
  • Interior Health has established a central Patient Care Quality Office to receive, record, track and resolve complaints through Health Service Area Patient Care Quality Officers. The Patient Care Quality Officer is the liaison between patients, clients, residents and Interior Health regarding concerns, complaints or unmet needs.   • Breathing Exercises - Mondays from 1 to 2 pm at the People Place. Excellent for those who cannot do physical exercise but want the benefits of cleansing, energizing and healing the body and mind. By donation only. Contact Melissa, [email protected]

  • Yoga in the Chair - Gentle Yoga movements that encourage deep, deeper and deepest breathing. No yoga mat required. Fridays at noon at the People Place, Room 006 starting November 5. By donation. Contact Melissa at [email protected]

  • Good Food Box - a volunteer, nonprofit, produce-buying fruit and vegetable cooperative for hundreds of families in the North Okanagan, offering high quality produce monthly for about half the retail cost. Supported in 2008 by the Food Action Society of the North Okanagan.

  • North Okanagan Seniors Action Network (SAN) is a committee of seniors, service providers and others who work to identify seniors’ needs and implement solutions in our community. Action is the key work here and seniors will form the majority of this committee. If you are a senior, interested, and passionate about working towards improving the lives of all seniors, this is the group for you.

    Seniors Action Network (SAN) meets at 10 am on the second Tuesday of each month at the People Place - but please phone (250) 545-8572 to confirm.

  • Vernon Stroke Recovery Branch, a branch of The Stroke Recovery Association of BC. Non-profit organization to help all stroke survivors and their caregivers to live their lives to the fullest. Provides support, information, speech programs, motor skill development, games, exercises, guest speakers, and friendship. Meets every Thursday at The Pantry Restaurant, 3908 32nd St., Vernon in the Banquet Room between 10 am and 12:30 pm.   • Report a problem or safety issue regarding streets and sidewalks to James Rice in the City of Vernon Operations Department at 250 549-6757. Typically safety issues are addressed immediately, and general issues are addressed on a priority basis.
